Lost then found

Mazal Burian ran off into the mines in the middle of the night with only some essential equipment. Valendris Nyssar thinks he went down the blocked off hall, that is said to be infested with things that have slipped through the Mist.

Valendris will tell them that Mazal is looking for a particularly rare gem of some kind, but he doesn't know the specifics, as he's only in charge of the workers and general protection.

He will tell them that the tunnel had been blocked off long ago, before he was even hired, so he has no idea if the rumors of demons and beasts are true. There are, supposedly, weird sounds coming from there but that could just be miners fucking with him and each other.

The entrance to the tunnel was found open, so they resealed it again.

[!bug-] Quest secret - Mazal's fate Mazal was delivered a small wooden box with three tiny glass vials which contain colorless liquids, a couple of ml at most. The box was left at his doorstep in the middle of the night.

He took a sniff of the first vial and remembered where the gem (Soul Shard) is, despite never being there.

The vials contain Osmalis of a dwarf who knows how to build a hive mind device. This was done by Veyric Nyssar of The Chthonian (Organization) in order to kill Mazal, who is an agent of Threnodex.

His death leads to the group acquiring the soul shard and taking it with them. It is irrelevant to the Chtonian's plans who precisely takes it, but he needs it to get out of the mine and into the world where it can be planted elsewhere.
